Sever ARC Giveaway

Title: Sever
Series: The Chemical Garden Trilogy #3
Author: Lauren DeStefano
Expected Publication: February 12, 2013

What if you knew exactly when you would die? In the not-too-distant future, genetic engineering has turned every newborn into a ticking time bomb — males only live to age 25 and females only live to age 20.
In this bleak landscape, young girls are kidnapped and forced into polygamous marriages to keep the population from dying out. When 16-year-old Rhine Ellery is taken by "the Gatherers" to become a bride, she enters a world of wealth and privilege. Rhine has only one purpose after she has been married to her new husband, Linden: to escape and find her twin brother.
But Rhine has more to contend with than losing her freedom. Linden's eccentric father is bent on finding an antidote to the genetic virus that is getting closer to taking his son, even if it means collecting corpses in order to test his experiments. With the help of Gabriel, a servant to whom she is dangerously attracted, Rhine is desperate to learn the truth and protect those closest to her. But, as her sister wife Cecily keeps insisting, her role may be much bigger than that.
In the first two books of the Chemical Garden trilogy, Wither and Fever, Rhine struggles to escape the mansion and then to navigate the brutal world outside. Now in Sever, the third and final book, Rhine uncovers some shattering truths about the past that her parents never had the chance to tell her and the alarming implications regarding her own genes. She may be the one who can save the human race.

Lauren DeStefano is hosting an international giveaway for an ARC of Sever, the third and final book of The Chemical Garden Trilogy! Winners will be chosen on July 6th. Click HERE to enter.

Cover Reveal: Iron's Prophecy

Iron's Prophecy Cover Reveal and Other Books by Julie Kagawa

Title: Iron's Prophecy (The Iron Fey #4.5)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Expected Publication: September 1, 2012

Meghan Chase is finally getting used to being the Iron Queen, ruler of the Iron Fey. Her life may be strange, but with former Winter prince Ash by her side at last, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

But when they travel to the Summer and Winter courts’ gathering for Elysium, the oracle from Meghan’s past returns with a dire prophecy: “What you carry will either unite the courts, or it will destroy them.” Now Meghan faces a devastating choice that may determine the future of all fey—and her and Ash’s unborn child…

This is the last story of Meghan and Ash that takes place between The Iron Knight and The Lost Prince. I feel so sad and happy altogether. Sad, that well, this is the last story that we will be waiting to read until September. I am a large fan of this series and although I was satisfied with the ending of  The Iron Knight, I'm still hooked and reeling for what happens between Meghan

Cover Reveal: Perfect Scoundrels

Heist Society Book 3 Cover Reveal

Title: Perfect Scoundrels (Heist Society #3)
Author: Ally Carter
Expected Publication: February 5, 2013

Katarina Bishop and W.W. Hale the fifth were born to lead completely different lives: Kat comes from a long, proud line of loveable criminal masterminds, while Hale is the scion of one of the most seemingly perfect dynasties in the world. If their families have one thing in common, it’s that they both know how to stay under the radar while getting—or stealing—whatever they want.

No matter the risk, the Bishops can always be counted on, but in Hale’s family, all bets are off when money is on the line. When Hale unexpectedly inherits his grandmother’s billion dollar corporation, he quickly learns that there’s no place for Kat and their old heists in his new role. But Kat won’t let him go that easily, especially after she gets tipped off that his grandmother’s will might have been altered in an elaborate con to steal the company’s fortune. So instead of being the heir—this time, Hale might be the mark.

Forced to keep a level head as she and her crew fight for one of their own, Kat comes up with an ambitious and far-reaching plan that only the Bishop family would dare attempt. To pull it off, Kat is prepared to do the impossible, but first, she has to decide if she’s willing to save her boyfriend’s company if it means losing the boy.

Ooh! Look at that cover! It's gorgeous! I can't wait to read this. I really love the first two books of Heist Society and I love Ally Carter. She's amazing! And now that I've heard there's more Hale in this book.. Can't February come any sooner?!

To Die For Books:October Releases

The Mark of Athena (Heroes of Olympus #3)
by Rick Riordan
Release Date: October 2, 2012

buy the book from The Book Depository, free delivery

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.

And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare. . . .

Don't look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them.

That is Ethan Chase's unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he's dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister's world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myths and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

My name is Ethan Chase. And I may not live to see my eighteenth birthday.

I read the first chapter at the end of The Immortal Rules and it was a real teaser! The Mark of Athena, too! I can't wait to have these books. Both covers are awesome, don't you think? :)

Me and My Bookshelf

This is where I feature the books I received, bought, gifted or won that are newly added in my physical shelf, which means no ebooks. This is usually scheduled on Saturdays.

I haven't had a chance to enjoy a real vacation this summer because of my classes, so there isn't really something big I can spend my money on. Since I'm a full-time student with a busy schedule and grades to maintain, I can't have a job. Gladly, I'm an excellent money saver (which comes from allowances I receive, of course), I always have something put aside for my WANTS and NEEDS which, at that time, was my plan of a week long travel that, unfortunately, didn't happen. Instead, I used them to buy these awesome books, which is absolutely worth every money I saved (that goes for all my books!). And with that, my summer couldn't have been better with these exciting reads! So, here's what's new on my shelf..

SPELL BOUND (Hex Hall #3)
by Rachel Hawkins
DEMONGLASS (Hex Hall #2)
by Rachel Hawkins
TORN (Trylle Trilogy #2)
by Amanda Hocking
SWITCHED (Trylle Trilogy #1)
by Amanda Hocking
ONLY THE GOOD SPY YOUNG (Gallagher Girls #4) by Ally Carter
OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF TIME (Gallagher Girls #5) by Ally Carter
IF I STAY (If I Stay #1)
by Gayle Forman
STARTERS (Starters #1)
by Lissa Price
INSURGENT (Divergent #2)
by Veronica Roth

All of these I bought at National Bookstore. Hopefully I can add a few books for my shelf this week. I received an e-mail awhile ago that a paperback copy of Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter is already available at my favorite bookstore and I can't wait to own a copy! It is one of the books I'm obsessed with and Ally Carter is an amazing author. The third book of this series is coming out February 5, 2013.

That's all for now. Happy weekend! :)

Back to School

Summer's done! For me, at least. And I regret to say that I'm so far behind my reading list. I haven't opened a single book these days, which is sad, really. And now I have my classes to occupy me full time. But last week, just before school started, I opted to watch BBC's Sherlock Season 1 and 2.
And I just love this! I haven't read the Sherlock Holmes books so I can't really compare them but the series is awesome! It is set in 21st Century London and each season has 3 episodes, an hour and a half long each. And I certainly can't wait for Season 3, the ending just left me hanging. There isn't a fixed date for Sherlock Season 3 yet. Probably early next year? Ha! That's too long! Well, what can we do but wait?

Anyway, class started last Wednesday and I can't seem to find a reasonable time to really catch up with my reading. On weekends, maybe? That's if school works won't be that many, which is pretty unlikely, what with my schedule:

But studies first, right? Happy weekend! :)

Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.

Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the any means necessary.

In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever.
